THE
FINE ART of PARTY GOING - "MAKING TABLES"
(and RESERVATIONS)
If
you haven't already found out, CRYC is a socially active club!
If it seems there's something always going on, you're
right!
One of the best ways to get acquainted with the Club and its
members is just "jump right in." Perhaps you're lucky
enough to have active sponsors that will help you through what
sometimes can be an awkward transition period. For those of you
who aren't in that category - this is one of the purposes of the
Welcome Aboard Committee: to help introduce you to what
CRYC has to offer. We hope this information will prove to
be of assistance.
Parties - Some members feel the parties are one of the best
aspects of CRYC. There are theme parties, costume parties,
balls, cocktail parties, private parties... . Parties at the Point
Bar, parties on the Veranda, parties in the Main Dining Room,
parties in the Commodores Lounge ... formal parties, casual
parties, and everything in between ... you get the picture.
There are usually at least two major parties every month - more
if you include Cruisers, Afternoon/Evening by the Intracoastal,
etc.
We encourage you to try a few of each type of party in your
first year or two - then you'll begin to get a feel for what
kind you most enjoy.
While many members attending Club parties have been invited to
sit with specific friends - there is always a "Club
table" that you're welcome to join if you haven't been
invited or haven't chosen to make your own table.
Making a Table - This phrase does not refer to getting out
the hammer and nails, but rather serving as the host or hostess,
making a "master" reservation for a table of 4-12,
picking up the phone and inviting several people to join you for
a specific event. Don't worry, you're not in line for a
whopping bill at the end of the evening - each person/couple is
expected to pay his or her own check.
Likewise, when you're invited by another Club member, they are
simply asking you to join them, not to be responsible for your
tab!
Reservations - It is very important to call ahead for a
reservation for nearly every event. It ensures you have a place
to sit, there will be enough food and allows the Club to
properly staff for the occasion. Call the front office 954 566-7886 for reservations
for all Club functions (or click on the "reservations"
link below).
Exceptions to the reservations "rule" include:
Anc'Hers, and Captains' Club, Wednesday's and Friday's half-priced cocktails (unless you're staying
for dinner), dropping by for lunch at the Point Bar or Wheel
Room, Dance Lessons, Poker, Pool, Tennis, Water Aerobics, and
Yoga.
