Coral Ridge Yacht Club boats traveled from Ft. Lauderdale to Key
Largo on Friday. Most took the outside (ocean) route as the
wind was from the west and, although it was blowing 20-25 knots, we
were in the lee of the land. Considering the location,
it was unseasonably cool. By Sunday, when we were ready to
return, the wind had backed to the east and a heavy surf was
up. Most of the smaller boats opted to cruise through
Angelfish creek and head north on Biscayne Bay. The wind
whipped the tops off the chop and covered our boats with a thick
crust of salt .
