January was kicked off by our 2nd Annual Barefoot at the Point New Years Bash!  Thanks to CRYC's own Garth Graham for DJing the event.  Over 100 CRYCers and guests dressed as casual or as dressy as they wanted, ate great food, delicious drinks, and we all had fun dancing the night away – even some of the kids joined in.  For those who missed it, don’t miss it next year! Thanks to the Ricci's for bringing the "neighborhood".

We also enjoyed CRYC with the return of one of our yearly Camp out/Movie Night/Fishing Rodeo on Sat Jan 19th – we'll have pictures and a recap in the next LOG, but this year make CRYC your choice for our first ever Super Bowl Tailgate Party on the Lawn and PB&G Sun Feb. 4th.  We are also having our Annual Family Rock the PB&G Feb 23rd, followed up by the "Cruise to Ocean Reef" Feb 29th

Fishing News – be sure to check out the Hydro Glow Fish light just off the PB&G and main dock.  Schools of fish are attracted to this light which also attracts some bigger fish outside the light looking for prey (or your bait). This light has a photo cell so it comes on at dusk and turns off at dawn.   Come out and enjoy!  If you catch something big or unusual let us know so we can post it in our CRYC Fishing Records.

Sport Jersey Saturdays have been there for the taking – come on out with the kids and team!    Kids coming over after their games in their team jerseys get $1.50 hot dogs and $5.00 pitchers for the coaches.   Bring the whole team over to celebrate their victory or their effort!

January featured the return of one of our yearly Camp out/Movie Night/Fishing Rodeos on Sat Jan 19th – we had great fun!   Blake Pacella and Caroline Duhaime won the fishing contests for biggest fish (2+ lb Jack) and most fish caught (6).   Special thanks to all the kids who participated as there was a bunch.  We also thank Danny P., Shane F., Steve T., Tom K., and friends who helped with bait, hooks, tangled lines, pep talks, and more.  Numerous Jacks were caught as well as the usual puffers, grunts, pin-fish, snapper, and "dock-fish".

Fishing Art – Shane Fox had the kids paint their favorite fishing scenes and we hope to auction these off as a fundraiser for the Family Activities Account.  Thank you Shane!

Movie Night/Campout – We had 13 tents scattered on the lawn while Surf's Up the movie played that evening followed by numerous live concert footage of various rock acts.  Night fishing with new glow light was pretty good and we even had a visit from 3 manatees (pictured below).  The new Flat Screen TV was installed that day and is a big hit!  Thank you Roger Danny, Garth and all those involved!

Friday Family Nights – Mark and Rick returned one evening in January and we hope to do more with the help of some local acoustic performers.  Look for the emails as we'll have an OPEN MIKE NIGHT so if you know of anyone who would like to get up and sing or strum away have them come out (date TBA).

Family Meeting – I have been so honored to serve as Chair from the beginning (5-6 years ago).  We have come along way from basically scratch.  It is time for us to take it to the next level so Kevin Senecal and Scott Tilbrook were "roped" into being co-chairs and I am fully behind them as I hope you will be, too.  As a member since 1989, I have seen CRYC go from literally a handful of younger families to 70-80 or so.  Since 2001 we now have a great Point Bar, playground, the best pool and slide around, a Kids Room Activity Center, a fitness center, CRYC Summer Camps, babysitting, have had numerous parties, and many kid's activities all of which I am very proud to have been a part of and proud to have served along the side of many members and staff.  Kevin and Scot will need your help and we need you all to get more involved and make sure this is just the beginning.  I love CRYC and I very appreciate all of you who have helped get us this far (way too many to name).  Now it is time to keep it going and double up our efforts.  Scot and Kevin will need your help. CRYC needs your help – bring in 1 new member, bring back someone who left, let's double the amount of families we have.  What a club we have, can have, and will have.

Enthusiastically,

Mark Burnam
