Although Katrina
was "just" a category 1 storm, she managed to do a bit of damage
to the Coral Ridge Yacht Club.
P/C Tomlinson, chairman of the Buildings and Grounds Committee,
reports that arrangements have been made to remove all downed
tree trunks and other debris by Tuesday, August 30. A
company has been hired to disassemble and remove the remains of
the Verandah canopy that landed partly on the parking lot and
partly on the docks.
There is water damage to both dance floors. Efforts are
underway to see if they can be dried and restored, or whether
they will have to be replaced. The water-soaked carpeting
is being dried and cleaned.
These photos Knud Smal took show the damage at the Point Bar and
Grille, especially to the fans and the suspended TV sets.
The TV on the ground looks to be in one piece, but it remains to
be seen whether it still works. It is clear the ceiling
fans whirled themselves to bits in Katrina's winds.
