The evening was memorable, filled with energy and enthusiasm
coupled with a colorful and exotic atmosphere with a Brazilian
flair. The dining room was transformed into a vibrant
tropical oasis, and bright palm trees and arrays of fresh fruit
accented the tables. Some women chose fun "Carmen Miranda"
costumes while others chose exotic glamour, wearing feathers and
pearls. The Brazilian dance troupe displayed feathers and
sequins (and perfectly toned figures) as they performed
professionally choreographed dance routines to a heavy Latin
beat. (We were all amazed at their quick costume changes,
never missing a step).
Their performance was highlighted by a Conga Line and the
audience enthusiastically left their tables to join in the fun.
The Eddie Stevens Orchestra enhanced the evening by introducing
the audience a New York Copacabana repertoire, and the dance
floor was crowded as members enjoyed the sambas and rumbas. Our
guests enjoyed the delicious South American cuisine and hors
d'oeuvres accented by an exquisite flan dessert. Once
again, the CRYC surpassed our expectations and offered us a very
fun and memorable party. Special thanks go to the Captains
and Anc'Hers Clubs which sponsored the event, and the
entertainment Committee for their support. Our new
catering director, Michael Sandbrook, also provided invaluable
assistance to the event.
