Committees - The member committee system is one of the
keys of CRYC's success. These standing committees cover all aspects of
the Club, including: Building and Grounds, bylaws, Communications (the
Log, the Roster and the website) Decorating, Entertainment (parties), Finance, House (rules and regulations,
menu,
Club hours, etc.), Insurance, Legal, Membership, Nominating, Salary,
Wage & Personnel Policy, Welcome aboard and Yachting. In addition, there are other committees that oversee bowling,
bridge, bocce, bingo, cruises, and music.
Generally, membership on most committees is controlled
or heavily influenced by the (incoming) Commodore. Committees usually
begin forming throughout the fall and are finalized during January.
If you have a special interest in or talent for an area
covered by one or more of the committees, make your interest known to
people on that committee, especially the chairperson, as well as the
Rear Commodore.
Volunteering - One of the best ways to meet people at
CRYC is to get involved. There are many opportunities to help the Club
even if you're not on a standing or other committee. The three
organizations - Auxiliary, Anc'Hers, and Captains' Club - all have
numerous chances to assist in a variety of ways. Occasionally during the
year, special interest committees are formed to explore limited issues
so you might have the chance to serve on one of these.
If you have an interest or talent that you'd like to
share, let the Commodores, Governors, staff and fleet officers,
committee chairpersons, know about it. The Club, the board, and
committees are always looking to improve and welcome feedback, input and
ideas. Don't hesitate to submit any and all ideas you may have.
