little steamy and "late to bed early to rise" i.e. not a ton of
sleep, but isn't that what camping out is all about? We
all had a blast and it was an experience we'll all look back on
with fond memories.
We had 15 tents set up on the grounds though some of us did have to
endure one of those late-afternoon 30-minute Florida downpours,
but all was OK. The evening's events began with a nice buffet
for CRYC's 1st Ever Outdoor Movie Night
featuring the movie "The Incredibles". All of the
children and parents had a great evening watching the movie on
the lawn, checking out the Heat/Pistons game underneath, playing
fuse ball, swimming, running around with glow sticks (courtesy
of John Yohanan), or just lounging around. Thanks
to Mark Payne for once again helping out with the movie
projector/screen etc.
Gradually those not camping headed for home and the last ones present
were our brave campers: The Brauns, Burnams/Modias, Duhaimes,
Ferayornis, Kadivars, Kalys, McDonalds, McKinleys, O'Loughlins,
Paynes, Roberts, Tobins, Williams, and Yohanans/Derys. As
you might expect, just because the night wore on, that didn't
necessarily mean our young CRYC boys and girls would be hitting
the hay any time soon. A group of parents were over-seeing
the camp with a bend-the elbow-chit-chat session on the main
dock. Every once in a while you'd hear various groups of
children having what must have been "serious" discussions about
whose middle name was the coolest, which boy or girl was cute in
the other tent, the mystery of the "bloody hand" rumored to
hanging out side The Hut/CVS store, and tons of giggling about
who knows what.
Morning came EARLY and one by one life could be observed from each tent
as we awoke to the sounds of birds chirping, early morning
swimmers, and the smell of freshly brewed coffee courtesy of
Club Manager Jim Kaly and son Kyle. A great breakfast
buffet followed and our first-ever CRYC Campout on the lawn went
flawlessly and without incident - just a great time and a CRYC
tradition in the making.
