OK, nobody came dressed in Togas or thought they were
going to a college fraternity or sorority party. But, everybody
did come and was ready to have a great time. The room was alive
with the blue and white of Greece. Whether it was Greek fisherman
hats, vests, suspenders and mustaches for the men and beautiful,
colorful outfits complete with shimmering skirts for the ladies, CRYC
was the happening place.
It started out with being greeted by your hosts that evening, Carol &
Bill Stack and Bev & Allan Gross. The appetizer area was filled
with Greek specialties, including delicious Greek keftedes (meatballs),
hummus and pita bread, and Tzatziki. I don't know about you, but
it's all Greek to me.
In the dining room, we had the pleasure of watching teenagers from St.
Demetrios Church show us some beautiful moves with traditional Greek
dances. They even chose many of us to join them.
Thankfully, we didn't trip over our own feet or anybody else's while we
enjoyed dancing to the melodies. The kids were dressed in
authentic attire that added to their performance. Thank you, Bill,
for bringing this vibrant entertainment to our Club.
Just like appetizers, dinner was laced with Greek tradition as well.
From Greek salad to Moussaka, stuffed grape leaves and lamb & vegetable
kabobs, Chef Kevin did an outstanding job in creating an evening of
Greek delights. Baklava for dessert was a terrific finishing
touch. All I can say is Opa! Opa! to our chef.
Oh, and would the evening be complete without gorgeous belly dancers?
Absolutely not! And who could be better than our own stunning Linda
Balent and her able-bodied (ha, ha) accompanying dancer. They
deserve another round of Opa! Opa! Also, it was so much fun
watching everybody waving their blue or white napkins.
When we weren't dancing to Eddie Stevens, we enjoyed some energizing
Greek music that had some couples on their feet dancing as well.
Is there any better place to party than our own CRYC!
Many thanks to those who helped make this night a fun one for all.
Success happens when you have members who come to enjoy & help and
employees who love to make it happen well. Kudos to Michael, our
terrific catering coordinator, for making this night a joy to host. The
entertainment committee was awesome in helping set up our festive
evening. A major 'Thank You' for your efforts. And finally,
Carol & Bev were all over town to find just the right touches to make
the evening memorable. I hope you enjoyed the basket of goodies at each
table. The only thing missing was the Windex, and it wasn't missed
at all.
