The Grand Opening Party
This year's Grand Opening (End of Summer) Party was an
outstanding Black tie affair that took place on Saturday
the Tenth of September. It was a very elegant affair
attended by approximately 250 people. Resplendent in
their attire, everyone seemed to be having a very good
time.
There was much catching up to do as many members have
returned from their summer sojourns and cruises, to
renew friendships and tell tall tales of the adventures
they'd had. There was much dancing and frivolity among
the members.
Not forgotten was the Club's turmoil from Hurricane
Katrina and its aftermath. Some members of the Club also
were bemoaning the damage to their boats and homes. But
all of this was forgotten by the time our excellent
repast was served. After hors d'ouvres of Oyster
Rockefeller and more passed out by our fine staff,
everyone went into dinner. We had a fine salad followed
by a combination of Filet Mignon and Sea Bass that was
excellent.
For many it was the first sampling of food by our new
Chef Kevin and his staff. They were all introduced by
Vice Commodore Charlie Sammarco and welcomed heartily.
We now truly serve the finest food available anywhere. I
hope to see you all at our next affair.
So long and good sailing
Dr Paul Berman
